Assistant Coach

Vision

If we are realizing our shared purpose at the Educare Learning Institute, our participants are gaining clearer views of themselves and others in light of their spiritual purposes.

These new views come through the practice of non-judgmental observation of our own experiences, thoughts, and feelings and through listening in ever-deeper ways to our own intuition and to those around us.  These views enable us to experience remarkable, constant growth.

They free us from fear and enable us to expect good and experience peace, even when our past choices or present circumstances portend trouble.  They antidote egoism and a sense of separation; they relieve us of our perceptions of victimization.  They cause us to say, “Yes!” to the yearning in all of us to give our talents freely, and they reveal how our needs are met in return.

Experience and Education

My professional training is in biology, and I have a B.S. degree from Principia College and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University where I studied the ecological, physiological, and chemical processes that influence biodiversity in forests.  While at Yale, I was a community organizer, working with students, faculty, administrators, Connecticut residents, and politicians to listen with each other to resolve labor conflicts and other public welfare issues.

Currently I am a research scientist at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and I teach biology at Principia College. I have served as a consultant or board member for several educational organizations, non-profit organizations, and for-profit companies.  I began working with Sandy as an assistant coach for Leading With Mastery courses in 2004, and I remain committed to the work of the Educare Learning Institute.
